TYPE LOCALITY: Australia, Queensland, off Mackay .

DISTRIBUTION: Tropical Indian Ocean to eastern Australia (Coral Sea).

COMMENT: Known only from two skulls, the second from Somalia; commonly included in Mesoplodon (JGM) .

PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix II as Order Cetacea .
