TYPE LOCALITY: " China ". Restricted to vicinity of Canton [Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China] .

DISTRIBUTION: SE China from Yangtse River southward; Taiwan; disjunct in NE Vietnam.

STATUS: Unknown, but probably affected by habitat modification.

SYNONYMS: flaviventris G. Allen, 1927; formosus Thomas, 1908; yuenshanensis Shih, 1930.

COMMENTS: Placed in Caprolagus (Indolagus) by Gureev (1964:143). Formerly included coreanus ; see Corbet (1978c:73); here considered distinct, following Flux and Angermann (1990).
