A Palearctic species (see note below), all of whose known parasitic stages have been found on Rodentia : Sciuridae ; immature stages have been collected from Rodentia : Cricetidae and Muridae , Galliformes : Phasianidae , Passeriformes (several families), and Piciformes : Picidae . Ixodes columnae is a very rare parasite of humans.
