A Nearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Carnivora : Canidae , but they have also been collected from Carnivora : Mephitidae ; adults and nymphs have been recovered from Carnivora : Felidae , Mustelidae and Procyonidae , while adults alone have been found on Didelphimorphia : Didelphidae , and Rodentia : Sciuridae . There are no records of Ixodes rugosus causing human parasitism. M: Bishopp (1911), under the name Ixodes cookei rugosus , and given its current status in Cooley and Kohls (1945)
