A Nearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Passeriformes : Hirundinidae . Adults and nymphs have been collected from Passeriformes : Fringillidae ; nymphs alone have been recovered from Falconiformes : Falconidae . There are no records of Ixodes howelli causing human parasitism.
