A Neotropical species whose adults and nymphs are usually found on Mammalia (several orders); immature stages have commonly been recovered from Passeriformes (several families), but they have also been collected from Coraciiformes : Momotidae , Galliformes : Cracidae , and Gruiformes : Rallidae . Lamattina et al. (2018a) found larvae and nymphs on Didelphimorphia : Didelphidae . Amblyomma brasiliense is a sporadic parasite of humans.

Note: Camicas et al. (1998) ignore the description of the nymph of Amblyomma brasiliense in Aragão (1908a). Welschen et al. (2012) caution that the redescriptions of Amblyomma brasiliense in Dios and Knopoff (1930, 1934 ) are from doubtful specimens, and these redescriptions have been excluded from the above lists.
