An Afrotropical species whose adults are usually found on Perissodactyla : Rhinocerotidae . Adults alone have been collected from Artiodactyla : Hippopotamidae and Suidae , Carnivora : Felidae , Perissodactyla : Rhinocerotidae , and rarely from Squamata : Pythonidae , and Testudines (unknown family). There are no records of Amblyomma rhinocerotis causing human parasitism.

F: Neumann (1899) , under the name Amblyomma aureum , a synonym of Amblyomma rhinocerotis

Note: Guglielmone and Nava (2014) noted several instances where specimens redescribed as Amblyomma rhinocerotis were actually confused with Dermacentor rhinocerinus and vice versa.
