An Oriental species whose adults are usually found on Carnivora : Viverridae . All parasitic stages have been collected from Scandentia : Tupaiidae ; adults and nymphs have been recovered from Carnivora : Canidae and Felidae ; adults alone have been taken from Artiodactyla : Suidae , and Carnivora : Viverridae ; immature stages have been found on Rodentia : Muridae and Sciuridae . There are no records of Haemaphysalis asiatica causing human parasitism.

Note: Haemaphysalis asiatica had been confused with Haemaphysalis leachii prior to the study of Hoogstraal and Trapido (1966a), but this applies only to the male and female of this species because the descriptions of the larva and nymph of Haemaphysalis asiatica (as Haemaphysalis asiaticus ) in Hoogstraal and Trapido (1966a) refer to another species, as explained in Saito et al. (1971).
