Type Locality: Solomon Isls, Guadalcanal, Aola.

Vernacular Names: Guadalcanal Monkey-faced Fruit Bat.

Distribution: Guadalcanal (Solomon Isls). A specimen from Isabel Isl formerly referred to this species has been reidentified as anceps (see Parnaby, 2002 b).

Conservation: IUCN / SSC Action Plan (1992) – Endangered: Limited Distribution. IUCN 2003 – Critically Endangered.

Discussion: Does not include anceps ; see Hill and Beckon (1978), Flannery (1991 b, 1995 b), and Parnaby (2002 b).
