Diagnosis

See the diagnosis in the description of the new genus.

Material examined

Holotype Kenya, Tana River district, 10 km north of Garsen , 23 October 1977. Leg. V. Mahnert and J.-L. Perret (G-77/31). Ten paratypes from the same sample . Holotype and five paratypes: MHNG, five paratypes: (1730-PO-2007): HNHM .

Measurements

Length of body 540–624 Mm, width of body 332–374 Mm.

Prodorsum

Rostral part conical, with blunt rostral apex. Lamellae long, narrow, with a short line directed inwards at their distal end. Prelamellae absent, sublamellae short, weakly developed. All prodorsal setae comparatively short, ciliate. Sensillus very long, with small, lanceolate head, ciliate along the whole length. One pair of very small dorsosejugal porose area present basally, near the lamellae.

Notogaster

Dorsosejugal suture thin but discernible. Pteromorphae large, wide, tongue-shaped, with thin radiate lines. Four pairs of small, tube-shaped sacculi well observable. Fourteen pairs of mostly long, pilose notogastral setae present, probably four pairs in posteromarginal position, neotrichous ( Figure 9A View Figure 9 ).

Lateral part of podosoma ( Figure 9C View Figure 9 )

Tutorium without true apex. Pedotectum I long, only their distal part widened, covered by the acetabulum I. A comparatively large porose area lamellaris visible. Circumpedal carina long, with a characteristically bent part reaching the lateral margin of the ventral plate.

Ventral parts

Apodemes and borders weakly developed in the epimeral region, sternal apodema absent. Ap.2 and ap.sej. not reaching the genital aperture and not connected with each other. Epimeral surface smooth, without pattern. All epimeral setae short, but some of them well ciliated. Ap.4 absent. Five pairs of simple genital, three pairs of ciliate aggenital, four pairs of anal setae present. A strong neotrichy also in adanal position ( Figure 9B View Figure 9 ), there are 12 pairs arising from this region. Lyrifissures iad in adanal position.

Legs

All legs tri- and heterodactylous. Femora of legs II–IV with distinct blade-like formation.

Remarks

See the remarks after the description of the new genus.

Etymology

We dedicate the new species to the collectors of this very interesting new taxon, to Dr Volker Mahnert and his colleague in the Kenya expediton Mr Jean-Luis Perret.
