4.8a. Phlegmariurus linifolius (L.) B.Øllg. var. linifolius View in CoL
Collections studied from the Guianas: 1 (FG: 1) – however not confirmed for French Guiana (see note below).
French Guiana: s.loc., Montagne donavit [= probably given to the mycologist Camille Montagne by Leprieur], 1859, Leprieur 12 ( P).
Note: Leprieur’s specimen from French Guiana is the only one for the Guianas. Contrary to what we have mentioned in our article from 2020, this specimen was in fact collected by Leprieur rather than by the mycologist C. Montagne and was given to C. Montagne by Leprieur. It is well known that Leprieur sent many specimens from French Guiana to Montagne for his studies, and Montagne never visited French Guiana ( Hoff, 2000). In addition, there are some doubts about this collection because it appears that Leprieur, in the period 1850–1858, stayed in Martinique where P. linifolius var. linifolius is present. Therefore, it is possible that this specimen was collected in Martinique rather than in French Guiana. It is unclear whether the date 1859 is the date when the lycopod was collected, or when the specimen was given to Montagne.
