Chramesus mimosae Blackman, 1938: 544 View in CoL

Chramesus varius Wood, 1969: 4 View in CoL : new synonymy

Chramesus varius View in CoL was distinguished from C. mimosa e primarily on the basis of color variations in the scales and distribution from central Mexico and southern Texas, respectively. In a long series collected by the author in southern Nuevo León the variation in color pattern completely encompassed both types. Recent collections have completely closed any geographic gaps ( Fig. 2 D View FIGURE 2 ). It is clear that only a single species is represented. All reported hosts are legumes, including Mimosa sp., Acacia sp. , and Leucaena pulverulenta View in CoL . Based on collection localities, this species is found in or adjacent to thorn forests, probably in riparian habitats, from central Mexico to southern Texas.
