Vespertilio darjelingensis Horsfield, 1855

Vespertilio darjelingensis Horsfield, 1855 , which is an accepted synonym of Myotis siligorensis (see, for example, Simmons, 2005), is not attended by a type locality (see Ellerman & Morrison-Scott, 1951; Corbet & Hill, 1992) and Horsfield (1855) makes no mention of its provenance other than stating erroneously (as he does with V. siligorensis , above) that it was secured by Hodgson in Nepal. There is every likelihood that

Hodgson collected the species either in Darjeeling, itself (where he resided for many years) or in the wider tracts of Darjeeling District. It would not, it is felt, be inappropriate to confer the type locality "?Darjeeling" on the taxon but, as there is seemingly no evidence that the species was secured there, this may be precipitant .

Murina aurata & Murina leucogaster

The publication that is cited usually as containing the original description of Murina aurata (on p. 250 thereof) and of Murina leucogaster (on p. 252 thereof) is:
