IX being more regularly bow-shaped, not shifted posterad and not so deeply incised anterodorsad in lateral view; the tip of segment X is perfectly rounded; the basal half of the coxopodites are slender; and the harpagones lack basal a tooth and is straight, not curving.

Male. Body and wings brown, with brown pubescence. Maxilary palp formula I-(III, IV)-II-V, segment V as long as sum of segments I–IV. Head dorsum brown with brown setal warts, indiscernible on the pinned animal. Swollen setal wart absent on proepisternum. Pretarsal claws asymmetrical, laterally flanked by setal bundle. Protibia with 2 spurs, posteroapical spur smallest.

Wings. Forewing crossveins m-cu and cu tangential. Cu2 and A1 running very closely. Wing membranes uniformly brown, without pronounced pattern. Hind wing Sc and R confluent apically of crossvein r at distance equal to length of crossvein. Crossvein r located apically of crossvein s by distance equal to length of crossvein. Fork 1 present. Forewing length 11.0 mm.

Male genitalia. Abdominal segment IX fused annularly, tergum shorter than sternum ( Fig. 363); anterior margins of segment IX almost regular bow-shaped; central section undulating; dorsal section slightly more drawn in lateral aspect ( Fig. 363). Apical lobe on posterolateral margins nearly triangular, located above articulation cavity of gonocoxites ( Fig. 363). Spine row on posterior margins of segment IX complete, not intermittent; spines heterogenous, irregularly bending on laterocaudal lobes of dorsum; spines short, stiff, straight on apical lobes. Intersegmental step between segments IX and X filled, occupied by pair of setose protuberances, appearing as setose laterocaudal lobes. Body of segment X, long, nearly triangular, with dorsad curving, blunt apex ( Fig. 363); simple, lobe-shaped in dorsal aspect ( Fig. 364); ventrum slightly bellied ( Fig. 363). Apicoventral lobes fusing to segment X along mesal margin, dominating distal part of segment X ( Fig. 363); delineated by setae; rounded; dorsum flat in dorsal view ( Fig. 364). Smooth, mesal lobe reduced. Dorsal interlobular gap narrow, triangular. Apicoventral lobe apices orienting dorsad ( Fig. 363); separated by dorsal, interlobular gap; shape highly dependent on observation angle. Unusual, setose structure present on basal, dorsolateral areas of segment X. Setose structures forming pair of well-developed protuberances, representing laterocaudal lobes. Transverse sutures invisible. Longitudinal sutures running along bottom of segment X as continuation of apicoventral setose lobes ( Fig. 363). Setose areas (superior or preanal appendages) forming pair of elevating, circular, flap-like setal warts located apically from middle of segment X. Coxopodites reaching apex of segment X; broad at bases followed by long, slender section, abruptly broadening apicad, slightly bending posterad ( Fig. 363); straight in ventral view ( Fig. 365). Harpagones with short, broad triangular basis in lateral view ( Fig. 363); continuing into long, upwardly orienting, straight, thin digitate process ( Fig. 363). Phallothecal phallobase enlarged, straight, horizontal shaft parallel-sided, slightly constricted mid-length ( Fig. 366); chitinesed endothecal process circular; about half as wide as shaft. Phallotremmal sclerites broad and rounded in lateral aspect.

Holotype male: MADAGASCAR: Fianarantsoa Province, 7 km W Ranomafana , 900 m, black light, mountain rainforest near river and stream, 20–24.iii.1990 [W.E. Steiner] - ( NMNH, pinned).

Distribution. Madagascar.

Etymology. fianara , derived from the type locality, Fianarantsoa Province.
