Diagnosis

Forewing length 7.0–8.5 mm. This species is recognized by the rust-brown semi-ovoid basal patch on the forewing ( Figure 4 ). It can be distinguished from other species of Ancylis in the male genitalia by the goose-head shaped cucullus, the slender and curved neck of the valva and the aedeagus longer than the valva ( Figure 29 ). The female has the slender papilla analis, the sclerotized antrum about 1/4 ductus bursae, and the two different-sized signa, the small one occupying about 1/3 of the large one ( Figure 51 ).

Distribution

China (Beijing, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Henan, Jiangxi, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Zhejiang), Europe , Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Russia (Far East).

Hostplants

Fabaceae : Lathyrus pratensis ; Leguminosae: Trifolium repens , Vicia spp. ( Bradley et al. 1979; Liu and Li 2002).

Diagnosis

Forewing length 5.0–7.5 mm. This species is recognized by the dark brown basal patch on the forewing ( Figure 5 ). It is similar to A. unculana in facies, but can be distinguished by the absence of the uncus, the smaller socius, about 2/3 the width of the aedeagus ( Figure 30 ), and the semicircular sterigma in the female genitalia ( Figure 52 ). In A. unculana , the uncus is bifurcate; the socius is large, equal to the width of the aedeagus; and the sterigma is ring-shaped.
