Remarks.
This taxon is endemic to eastern Kazakhstan and is known to occur only in one locality near the city of Sarkan in the foothills of the Dzungarian Alatau ( Toropov and Milko 2013). This species includes four subspecies: D. a. abakumovi Thomson, 1865, D. a. laterale Jakovlev, 1895, D. a. lepsyense Danilevsky, 2004 and D. a. sarkandicum , which are represented only by small populations that occur in a limited area in the northern part of the Dzungarian Alatau in eastern Kazakhstan ( Danilevsky 2004). The biology of the species is poorly known. The beetles occur at altitudes of approx. 800-1300 m a.s.l. where they feed on various species of Poaceae ( Toropov and Milko 2013).
