Japanese name: Shikoku-charumeru-so.

Radical leaves ovate, cordate, acute or subacute, 2-7 cm long, 2-6 cm wide, 5-7 lobulate with acute tips or obsoletely lobulate, irregularly toothed. Flowering stems 20-40 cm tall. Flowers April to May. Calyx tube obconical; calyx lobes triangular-ovate, acute, often sparsely glandular along margin, erect. Petals (3-)5-pinnatiparted, spreading or reflexed, ca. 3.5 mm long; pinnae obliquely ascending, glandular dotted. Stamens 0.9-1.2 mm long. Styles 2, erect, ca. 0.8 mm long; stigmas thickened, shallowly or obscurely 2-4-lobed.

Chromosome number: 2n = 28 (Wakabayashi 1973).

Japan: Shikoku and S. Kyushu (Kagoshima and Kumamoto Pref.). Moist, shady places along streams in mountainous areas. Endemic.
