Material examined. Italy, Naples, coll. Pierre Fauvel, 1 specimen (as Lumbrineris latreilli MNHN A445).

Description. Specimen complete with 178 chaetigers, L10=7.3 mm, W10=2.6 mm. Prostomium conical, longer than wide, with pair of nuchal organs, ventrally with prominent buccal lips. Peristomium shorter than prostomium, anterior ring twice as long as posterior. All parapodia well developed, first six smaller than following. Prechaetal lobe short, rounded in all parapodia. Postchaetal lobe in parapodia 1–5 digitiform, from parapodium 6 to 21 digitiform, basally swollen; from parapodium 22 until the end, shortest, conical ( Figures 6 View FIGURE 6 A–B). All parapodia with small notopodia, with notoaciculae. Composite multidentate hooded hooks in chaetigers 1–21, with long blade, with up to 9 teeth of similar size ( Figure 6 View FIGURE 6 C); simple multidentate hooded hooks from chaetiger 21, with up to 9 teeth, proximal tooth largest, crenulated ( Figure 6 View FIGURE 6 D); dorsal limbate chaetae in chaetigers 1–50, ventral limbate chaetae in chaetigers 1–26. Aciculae yellow, aristate, up to five in anterior parapodia, one in posterior parapodia, reddish. Pygidium with two pairs of short conical cirri, all of similar size. Mandible fused for about 1/2 its total length. Maxillary apparatus with five pairs of maxillae ( Figure 6 View FIGURE 6 E); maxillary carriers shorter than MI, joined to base of MI. MI forceps-like, with attachment lamella. MII shorter than MI, left maxilla with three teeth and right with five, second tooth smallest; with ligament and with wide attachment lamella along 2/3 of posterior lateral edge. With broad strongly sclerotized connecting plate between MI and MII. MIII unidentate, with prominent tooth followed by an expanded base; with wide attachment lamella along the entire lateral edge. MIV unidentate, with prominent tooth. MV displaced lateral to MIV and MIII, reduced to attachment lamella.

Distribution. Mediterranean Sea.

Remarks. The type material was not available to be examined, but material from the Mediterranean Sea that agrees with the description of the species was analysed.
