Type species. Hogna radiata ( Latreille, 1817) View in CoL

Diagnosis. Hogna can be recognized by following combination of characters: thoracic region of prosoma uniform in height and with a distinct slope behind fovea, chelicera with two or three retromarginal teeth. AER equal or slight shorter than SER, and ratio of AME diameter to clypeus height 1.2–1.6. Tarsi I–II with well-developed scopulae. Epigyne with a distinct and inversed T-shaped septal pedicel that is equal or longer than septal base, spermathecae small, with nodules in some species. Male palp organ with a single or double sickle-shaped terminal apophysis, conductor large, and median apophysis with a basal spur toward the ventral side ( Zyuzin & Logunov 2000; Dondale 2005; Nentwig et al. 2023).
