Undershrubs with succulent leaves. Flowers bisexual or pistillate, solitary, in the axil of bracts; perianth urceolate; fruiting perianth subglobular, crustaceous or woody, unmodified opposite the radicle, with 2-5 erect wings at apex; stamens 4-5; stigmas 2. Seeds horizontal; embryo annular; radicle ascending. Four spp., Australia.
