Material examined. CANADA: Manitoba, Lake Winnipeg, Victoria Beach, 2 males, 25.vii. 1969; Pine Dock, 2 males, 31.vii. 1969. South Basin, 3 prepupa larvae, 4.–17. vii.1969.
The hypopygium is illustrated ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7. A, B E–F). Some specimens had 1 seta on the preepisternum.
Fourth instar larva (n = 3, except when otherwise stated)
Total length 6.54–7.87 mm. Head capsule length 0.61–0.67mm.
Head. Apex of antenna as in Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 I. Lengths of antennal segments (in µm): 202–234; 38–43; 6–7; 3–4. AR 4.25–4.75. Basal segment 24–26, 1 wide; ring organ 0.69–0.73 from base; blade 49 µm (1); accessory blade 17 µm (1) long. Apical style of second segment 7–8 µm long. Apex of labrum as in Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 J. Mandible 105–120µm long. Basal segment of maxillary palp 40–46µm long, 10–12µm wide. Ligula ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 K) 58–74 µm long. Paraglossa ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 K) 24–30 µm long.
Abdomen. Procercus 116–130µm long, 32–39µm wide, 2.95–3.44times as long as wide. Anal setae 515–650 µm, Sa 380–491 µm, supraanal seta/anal setae 0.71–0.78. Anal tubules 200–260 µm long. Posterior parapods 454– 630, 520 long.
Pupa (n = 2, based on prepupae)
Thoracic horn ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 L) 405–410 µm long, 134–135 µm wide. Thoracic comb with 10–11 spines, the longest 50–60 µm.
Remarks. Most measurements fit well with the measurements given by Roback (1981: 127) except that the AR of these specimens are higher.
Distribution. T. okoboji is known from Manitoba, Minnesota, Iowa, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, Kansas and New Mexico ( Oliver et al. 1990: 14, Ashe & O’Connor 2009: 235).
