Remarks. Adults were described in Claassen (1923) and subsequently in Needham & Claassen (1925, with same image of the male in lateral view; their plate 38, fig. 14). The male paraproct was also illustrated in Hitchcock (1974, his fig. 143). The holotype male and allotype female (Glen House, NH—also in Coös Co.) were collected from different localities. The only other Soyedina species distributed that far northward is S. vallicularia . The combination of the asymmetric dorsal ( Figs. 43–45, 48 View FIGURES 43–50 ) and ventral sclerites ( Figs. 43–44 View FIGURES 43–50 ), plus the inner epiproct member that is flanged and directed laterally with the flange lip approximately same width apically ( Figs. 44–46 View FIGURES 43–50 ), aligns this species closely with S. carolinensis and S. merritti . Soyedina washingtoni is known from the northern Appalachian Mountain region south to West Virginia and westward across Pennsylvania to streams draining into Lake Erie ( Fig. 80 View FIGURE 80 ).
