Drapetis View in CoL (including Elaphropeza Macquart View in CoL ) is recognized from other drapetine genera that occur in the New World by the following combination of features: eyes at least narrowly separated on face, gena scarcely extended below eye, frons with sides strongly divergent above, antenna with terminal or subterminal arista­like stylus, Rs longer than bm­cu crossvein, cell br much shorter than cell bm, and A 1 very weak or absent.
