Distribution. Cosmopolitan species; usually recorded from temperate and tropical regions throughout the world ( Blakemore 2002, 2012).

Remarks. The species name is sometimes misspelt as " corticus ". The taxonomic history of the species is very complicated, see Blakemore (2002: 157, 2012, 2013) for more details.
