Chiriqui: Loc. 18, epiphytic, c. spor., 30935; 20, on rotten log, c. per., 1930 m, 31033 . Coclé: Loc. 4, on rotting log at waterfall, c. per., 34134.

A rather rare neotropical species, known from the West Indies, Guayana, and Costa Rica ( Herzog 1951, as Harpalejeunea sporadica ; Reiner-Drehwald & Goda 2000, as L. elliottii ; Schäfer-Verwimp & Reiner-Drehwald 2009). The specimen 31033 has been included in molecular studies (Heinrichs et al. 2014).
