** Radula fendleri Gottsche ex Steph. View in CoL

Chiriqui: Loc. 21, epiphytic in cloud forest, 1700 m , 34442.

Widespread in the West Indies and northern South America ( Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Brazil, Suriname); new to Central America.

The specimen is corresponding to R. fendleri according to the key presented by Yamada (1988: 383), not to R. saccatiloba Steph. which was considered synonymous with R. fendleri by Gradstein & Hekking (1989). In a recent molecular study ( Devos et al. 2011) these two species were nested in different clades and were assigned to two different subgenera.
