A widespread but scattered neotropical species, ranging from Costa Rica to Bolivia and SE Brazil including the West Indies, single record from Panama from Bocas del Toro ( Dauphin 2007). The cited specimen has been included in a phylogenetic study ( Dong et al. 2012).
