Scattered in the Neotropics, known from Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Andes of northern South America ( Eggers et al. 2004; Guerke 1978; Pätsch et al. 2010); new genus record for Panama.
In a recent molecular study ( Pätsch et al. 2010), a subspecies concept was supported based on the morphological similarities of the Jubula taxa and the observed low sequence variation.
