Identification. This species can be distinguished from the sympatric Boana calcarata View in CoL by the shape of the heel tubercle which is large and conical in B. almendarizae View in CoL but large and triangular in B. calcarata ( Caminer and Ron 2014) View in CoL . The vertical dark and light lines on the flanks of B. almendarizae View in CoL are narrower than in B. calcarata View in CoL .
Habitat. One specimen was collected in secondary for- est and the other around buildings in the WWS lodge.
Remarks. This species is listed as Near Threatened by the Ecuadorian Red List ( Ron et al. 2019).
