Family Limnephilidae View in CoL
Mesophylax aspersus Rambur 1842 View in CoL , first record for Aures region, second record for Algeria.
Berbaga: 30.iv.2019, 1 larva. Kassrou 14.i.2019, 2 larvae; 11.ii.2019, 13 larvae; 18.iii.2019, 4 larvae. Inoughissen: 30.iii.2018, 1♀ pupa. Ghoufi 05.v.2018, 4 larvae; 12.vii.2018, 7 larvae. Maffa: 16.iv.2018, 1 larva; 24.vi.2018, 2 larvae; 31.vii.2018, 10 larvae; 10.i.2019, 5 larvae. Nafla: 28.vii.2018, 19 larvae; 15.i.2019, 11 larvae; 26.ii.2019, 10 larvae; 23.iii.2019, 5 larvae; 07.v.2019, 6 larvae. O.chabaa: 22.v.2019, 1 larva.
It has also been found in the Seybouse River at Ghoufi (B.S., unpublished) and from the Hoggar Mountains, southern Algeria, by Malicky (1998) as the subspecies Mesophylax aspersus hoggarensis Malicky 1998 . The species is widely distributed in the Palaearctic region, ranging from Western Europe, including the UK, Madeira, Canary Islands, to the Mediterranean region, and southwestern Asia. In Morocco, the species is widespread with records from the High Atlas ( Mosely 1938; Malicky 1970; Botosaneaunu 1975; Mohati 1985), the Middle Atlas ( Dakki 1986) , the Central Plateau ( El Agbani 1984), and the Rif ( Tayoub 1989; El Alami & Dakki 1998).
Limnephilus sp., second record of the genus in Algeria.
Kassrou: 14.i.2019, 1 larva. Mafaa: 24.xi.2018, 1 larva.
Most probably the larva of the species is Limnephilus barbagaensis Malicky, Sekhi & Lounaci 2019 , recently described from the area (about 20–40 km distance from our locality). Since the immature stages of L. barbagaensis species are yet unknown, the identification of the species is uncertain and both larvae and adult material are necessary for a safe conclusion.
