Diagnosis.

This species is similar to A. tritici (which was previously regarded as a form of A. rubricornis ), but A. tritici differs from it by having a median piece with a dilated apical appearance in profile. Atherigona rubricornis can be distinguished from other species by its partially yellow frontal vitta and the trifoliate process with median piece linear in posterior view (Fig. 11 View Figures 4–11 ).
