( Figs. 7, 21, 30, and 47)

Erocha trita Druce, 1910: 178 ; Kiriakoff, 1977: 16 (Subfamily revision), Poole, 1989: 380 (Catalogue).

Diagnosis. This species can be differentiated from other Bergiantina species by the following characters: a) forewing discal cell white; b) orbicular and reniform spots surrounded by white; c) hindwings whitish with yellowish shade; and d) male genitalia similar to B. schausi .

Redescription. Male ( Fig. 7). Forewing length 21.1 – 23.2 mm. Resemble B. magnifica , differentiated by: forewing orbicular and reniform spot surrounded by white; discal cell markedly white inside; terminal area without silvery or white tint; hindwings whitish with yellowish shade. Genitalia ( Figs. 21 and 30): Resemble B. schausi , differentiated by: apical half of valves with a small more or less cilindrical knob close to costa, at the same position that the carina of that species, as long as 1/9 of valve length; apex of left valve without projection or barely protrude; apex of right valve with one subrectangular knob ( Fig. 21); horn-like dorsal projection of aedoeagus 1/3X as long as aedoeagus, rugous on the posterior side; left plate of aedoeagus without teeth ( Fig. 30). Female. Unknown.

Type material. Druce did not give any information regarding a type specimen, but he described a male, gave only one locality data, and wrote “… Expanse 2 inches ”. As he did not use the plural for the description, gave one locality, and did not give any range of numbers for expanse, we suppose that he only saw one exemplar. At the BMNH there is one male specimen with the same locality data, a type label, which fits the description given by Druce. We believe this specimen to be the holotype. HOLOTYPE: ♂ in the BMNH, with a white red bordered circled label reading “ Type ”; a white typed label reading “ Aqualani │ S. E. Peru │ 10,000 ft │ G. Ockenden ”; a white typed label reading “Brit. Mus. │ 1930-75”; a light blue typed label reading “ Noctuidae ♂ │ Genitalia slide │ No. 5141“; and a white handwritten label reading “ Erocha │ trita │ Type Druce”.

Immature stages and hosts. Neither the immature stages nor the hosts plants are known.

Distribution ( Fig. 47). This species is only found at Puno, Peru.

Material examined. PERU: Puno: Carabaya, Oconeque 1 ♀ (-) ( USNM); Agualani, S.E. Perú 1 ♂ May- 05 (G. Ockenden) ( USNM) .

Discussion. This species resembles B. magnifica , but is externally differentiated by the hindwings which are whitish with a yellow shade.
