Endemic. Ammoplanus madecassus var. orientalis ARNOLD, 1945 was published as an unavailable name, because ARNOLD (1945) described several subspecies (n. subsp.) in the same paper (ICZN 1999: Article 45.6.4). But this name was adopted by BOHART (In: BOHART & MENKE 1976) as a valid name of species (ICZN 1999: Article 45.6.4.1).
