Remarks.
Junior homonym of Melanopsis brevis Sowerby, 1826. Blanckenhorn (1897) introduced Melanopsis maroccana media as replacement name (see also Melanopsis moussoni Pallary, 1916). The authority is clear from the discussion provided in Mousson (1854); in fact, Mousson even seemed to doubt the specific separation of this taxon from other melanopsids.
