Scutimica Ros-Farré n. gen.

Type species: Scutimica flava Ros-Farré & Pujade-Villar n. sp.

Diagnosis. This genus can be easily recognised by the notauli forming a large cell that reaches along 1/2 to 2/ 3 the length of the mesoscutum, this is absent in all other Thrasorinae genera.

Description: Female. Head with long pubescence, clearly concave in dorsal view ( Fig. 1b View FIGURE 1 ). Face with strong longitudinal carina occasionally rugose, shiny, microsculpture absent ( Figs 1c & 1d View FIGURE 1 ). Clypeus distinctly projected and curved ventrally, clypeopleurostomal lines well developed ( Figs 1c & 1d View FIGURE 1 ). Malar area with coriaceous malar furrow from mandibular base to ventral margin of compound eye ( Figs 1d View FIGURE 1 , 2a & 2c View FIGURE 2 ). Posterior vertex occasionally with oblique carinae, centrally discontinuous ( Fig. 1a View FIGURE 1 ). Genae rounded, expanded, margined by occipital carina ( Figs 2a & 2c View FIGURE 2 ); occipital carina absent behind ocelli ( Figs 1a & 1b View FIGURE 1 ). Ocelli large and subequal ( Figs 1a & 1b View FIGURE 1 ). Circumtorular impression present ( Figs 1a, 1b, 1c & 1d View FIGURE 1 ). Antennae 13-segmented, long and filiform. Mesosoma shiny, without microsculpture, with long pubescence ( Figs 2b & 2d View FIGURE 2 ). Pronotal plate conspicuous, projected but narrow, subpronotal plate inconspicuous ( Figs 2b & 2d View FIGURE 2 ). Median mesoscutal furrow wide and deep reaching between basal 1/3 and 1/2 length of mesoscutum; notauli wide and deep, incomplete, forming an elongated pit ( Fig. 2d View FIGURE 2 ). Parascutal sulcus conspicuous, wide, ending anteriorly in front of tegula. Lateral basal impression conspicuous. Antero-admedian lines short or weak. Mesopleural furrow conspicuous. Scutellum emarginate, scutellar foveae present, interfoveal carina divided after scutellar foveae and continuing towards posterior end of scutellar disc, occasionally creating depressed area in center ( Figs 2b & 2d View FIGURE 2 ). Lateral propodeal carinae strong, curved. Wing densely pubescent, marginal pubescence very long, dense, radial cell closed, areolet absent. Metatibia with two spurs. Third and fourth abdominal terga fused and covering the metasoma ( Fig. 6e View FIGURE 6 ), lateral and anterior parts of syntergum with pubescence, posterior 1/2 with punctation. Hypopygium small, ventral spine short with long pubescence.

Male. Unknown.

Distribution: Neotropical: French Guyana, Brazil.

Derivatio nominis: Based on the combination of the Latin words scutum and mico (shine) reflecting the lack of microsculpture on the scutum, in contrast to the other Thrasorinae .

Gender: feminine.
