Agapetus (Synagapetus) laparus Neboiss, 1977: 38 View in CoL .

Material examined: Tasmania: paratypes, 2 males, 43.0°S 146.4°E, Tasmania, Mount Anne, Condominium Creek near Mt Anne, 09.ii.1965, A. Neboiss, NMV; 43.0°S 146.4°E, Tasmania, Condominium Creek, 15.ii.1971, A. Neboiss, males females, NMV; 42.6°S 146.3°E, Tasmania, Gordon River, 500m below 2nd split, 12.i.1977, Coleman, 1 male, NMV; 43.0°S 146.4°E, Tasmania, Condominium Creek at Scotts Peak Road, 09.ii.1988, A. Neboiss, males 1 female, NMV; Tasmania, Mount Castor, Old River & Collins River junction, 10.ii.1988, A. Neboiss, males females, NMV.

Diagnosis: Closely similar to A. cralus , but both sexes distinguished by absence of the caudally directed mesal process on abdominal sternite VI. Neboiss (1977) described and figured some small differences in the shape of the gonopods and segment X.

Forewing length: Male, 4.0– 4.5 mm; female 3.7–4.1 mm.

Distribution: Restricted to southwestern Tasmania.

Remarks: The small differences described for A. laparus by Neboiss (1977) fall within the range of variability in specimens identified in this study as A. cralus . However, males that lack the abdominal sternite VI process, and therefore are identified as A. laparus , have been taken from several separate sites. Thus, the status of A. laparus as a separate species is accepted here.
