Agapetus neboissi sp. nov.

Figs 13 View FIGURES 10 – 13 a, 13b, 36

Material examined: Holotype male: Victoria: Cement Creek, Mt Donna Buang Road [Mount Donna Buang Reserve], 12.i.1978, A. Neboiss, NMV.

Paratype: Victoria: Same data as for holotype, 1 male, NMV.

Diagnosis: This species is readily recognised by the combination of prominent stout black spurs medially on the mesal margins of the gonopods and sclerotised apices on the lobes of segment X. In this latter feature it resembles A. christineae sp. nov., but that species has a sclerotised ridge ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 17 – 20 a) rather than a single tooth on each gonopod.

Forewing length: Male 4.6 mm.

Male genitalia: Sternum VI with prominent mesal process, projected caudad. Segment IX triangular anterolaterally in lateral view, apicoventrally truncate in lateral and ventral views. Tergum X in lateral view tapered to acute, sclerotised apex; in dorsal view, appearing as 2 processes, each narrowly tapered to acute apex. Cerci slender and elongate in lateral view; with short setae on distal half. Gonopods in ventral view stout, slightly tapered to rounded apices, each with prominent spur on mesal margin, in lateral view dorsal margin slightly sinuate, apex rounded. Phallic apparatus ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 10 – 13 b) with distal spines but no parameres apparent.

Etymology: Named for Arturs Neboiss who collected these specimens and so much of the NMV collection.

Distribution: Known only from the type locality east of Melbourne, Victoria.
