Leptopelis bocagii (Günther, 1865)

Material (six specimens): One juvenile specimen (MHNCUP/ ANF 184, formerly UP-MHNFCP-017326), collected from Gumba [-11.26667º, 14.28333º, 784 m a.s.l.] Kwanza Sul Province, date unknown; one adult male specimen (MHNCUP/ ANF 185 , formerly UP-MHNFCP-017324), collected from Gumba [-11.26667º, 14.28333º, 784 m a.s.l.] Kwanza Sul Province, in May 1903 ; one adult specimen (MHNCUP/ ANF 186 , formerly UP-MHNFCP-017325; Fig. S20 ), collected from unknown locality, date unknown ; one adult specimen (MHNCUP/ ANF 187 , formerly UP- MHNFCP-017323), collected from N’Golla Bumba [-9.03333º, 14.60000º, 460 m a.s.l.] Kwanza Norte Province, date unknown ; two juvenile specimens (MHNCUP/ ANF 335 , ANF 342 ), collected from unknown locality, date unknown .

Comments: Leptopelis bocagii is a savanna species known from the western and northeast regions of Angola ( Marques et al. 2018). Based on two specimens, an adult, and a juvenile from “Gumba”, Ferreira (1904) described what he considered to be a new variety, “ Hylambates bocagei var. leucopunctata n. var. ” (MHNCUP/ANF 184– 185). Ceríaco et al. (2014b), after examination of the type material, considered leucopuntata as a junior synonym of L. bocagii , but additional analysis might be needed to address its taxonomic identity. Ferreira (1906) cited additional specimens of “ Hylambates bocagei (Gunth.) ” [= Leptopelis bocagii ] from “Rio Luinha”, “Quilombo” and “N’golla Bumba” (MHNCUP/ANF 187). Specimens MHNCUP/ANF 186, ANF 335 and ANF 342 may correspond to the ones cited by Ferreira (1906) from “Rio Luinha” and “Quilombo”.
