( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 A–E)

Larva. Remarks. Associated with adults using genetic methods. Specimens were most often collected along splash zone either on large boulders in stream or near edges or exposed substrate.

Collected : 9-Nov-10, Collectors: J Mynott & M Shackleton, Accession number: JMH1122.

Length: 7–7.5 mm.

Colour: Light brown

Body: Often covered with organic matter dorsally, fuzzy in appearance especially along lateral areas of abdomen.

Head: Anterior dorsal surface covered in very long robust setae, either broad tear-shaped or long and curved at the ends. Antennae robust; as long as head and thorax, only elongating near tips; scape and pedicle with long paddle-shaped robust setae on margins; first few posterior segments with very long robust setae curved at the ends.

Thorax: Pronotum narrow, width greater than length. Outer margin with dense fringe of long robust setae both tear-shaped, long and curled at the tips; medial area of pronotum with similar setae. Meso- and meta-nota with similar setae to pronotum in medial area, on raised bosses at base of wingpads, on hind margins; and on inner margin of mesonotal wingpads.

Legs: Tibiae subequal to femora; 3rd and 2nd tarsal segments short and similar length. Femora surface relatively smooth with a fringe of paddle-like long robust setae on distal margin and some also present in the distal area of outer surface. Tibiae with very long robust setae slightly curled near the tip present on all surfaces; long fine setae present in distal area on outer margin; paddle-like long robust setae present along outer margin more prominently in proximal area.

Abdomen: Tergite surfaces smooth except in medial areas and along hind margin where very long robust paddle-like setae are present; tergite X surface and hind margin covered in similar setae; hind margin of tergite X produced to a point. Cerci short and narrow, hair fringe very conspicuous on margin of first 10 segments. Gills purplish. Paraprocts very long, approximately two times the basal width, inner and outer margins straight.
