Jemasonia sosia (Mabille, 1878) View in CoL , stat. rest.

Placed as a subspecies of Jemasonia hewitsonii (Mabille, 1878) by Mielke, Brockmann, and Mielke (2022), Pyrrhopyga [sic] sosia Mabille, 1878 (type locality in Brazil) differs genetically from it at the level characteristic of species ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ), e.g., their COI barcodes are 2.7% (18 bp) different. Their wing patterns and genitalia differ as well ( Grishin et al. 2014): Jemasonia sosia is the species referred to as “ Jemadia cf. hewitsonii ” in Grishin et al. (2014). Therefore, it is a distinct species, sister to J. hewitsonii : Jemasonia sosia (Mabille, 1878) , stat. rest. However, it is not the species Evans considered “ J. sosia ” ( Evans 1951) . Evans’ “ J. sosia ” is Jemadia mabillei O. Mielke, Brockmann & C. Mielke, 2022 . In Evans (1951), J. sosia was called “ Jemadia hewitsonii brevipennis ”, and the true Jematus gnetus brevipennis (Schaus, 1902) was lumped within his monotypic Jematus gnetus (Fabricius, 1781) .
