Remarks. Omalium gayndahense was originally described from Gayndah, Queensland, Australia ( MacLeay
1873). Bernhauer (1926) synonymized Phloeonomus singularis Kraatz, 1859 with this species, but Steel (1960) revalidated and transferred it to Paraphloeostiba . Besides that, Steel reported records of P. gayndahensis from Queensland, New South Wales, and Lord Howe Island. Kuschel (1990) recorded it from New Zealand. Several authors in the 1990s recorded this species from Europe (e.g. Zanetti 1995, Assing 1996), including the Canary Islands ( Assing 1996, Assing & Wunderle 1999) and Madeira ( Assing 1996, Assing & Schülke 2006). Newton et al. (2000) recorded it from California, USA. Rougemont (2001) reported it from Hong Kong, China. The same author reported records of P. apicalis from Hong Kong and Yunnan (see above), which in fact refer to P. gayndahensis . The aedeagus of a specimen from Hong Kong is illustrated in Figs. 25–26 View FIGURES 23–26 . The species is here recorded from Yunnan for the first time.
