Type Locality: USA, "summit of Alabama Hills near Lone Pine, Owens Valley [Inyo Co.], Calif[ornia, about 4500 ft. = 1372 m]." .
Vernacular Names: Inyo Shrew.
Synonyms: Sorex (Otisorex) myops Merriam 1902 .
Distribution: Mountains of WC Nevada and EC California ( USA).
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Otisorex . Similar to nanus with which it may form an allospecies ( Hoffmann and Owen, 1980, Mammalian Species No. 131), but George (1988) retained both as separate species on the basis of allozyme frequencies.
