Type Locality: Brazil, Rio de Janeiro State, Rio de Janeiro.
Vernacular Names: Rufescent Rhagomys.
Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
Conservation: IUCN – Critically Endangered.
Discussion: Only two specimens exist, one with the skull now missing. Morphology redescribed and skull of holotype illustrated by Luna and Patterson (2003).
