Remarks
Apseudes talpa was taken in alga-associated and heterogeneous substrata, from the low-littoral to 36 m depth. It would appear to be the sublittoral counterpart of the following species in these islands, and it is possible that some of the deeper earlier records of Apseudopsis latreilli may have included this species.
Holdich and Jones (1983) mention the occurrence of this species in the Isles of Scilly, as well as in the Channel Isles , on the southern coasts of England, the Isle of Man, and east and west coasts of Ireland. The type locality is Salcombe , Devon. Elsewhere it has been recorded from Dutch , French , Portuguese and North African coasts, in depths from 0 to 33 m.
Apseudes talpa , the type species of the genus, is in part a simultaneous hermaphrodite (e.g. Holdich and Jones 1983): the specimens above labelled º have oostegites and a male genital cone.
