Patellapis (Chaetalictus) flavorufa ( Cockerell 1937) View in CoL

Halictus flavorufus Cockerell, 1937: 55 .

( Figs. 117a–g View FIGURE 117 )

Diagnosis. Superficially it resembles other reddish and/or brownish species like P. chubbi , P. pearstonensis or P. cinctifera , but these species differ markedly from P. flavorufa in their largter body size (6,0– 6,5mm). The male is unknown.

Description

Female. Bl = 4,8mm. General habitus ( Fig. 117e View FIGURE 117 ). Head. L = 1,4mm; W = 1,5mm. Head about as long as wide ( Fig. 117a View FIGURE 117 ). Integument black except mandibles largely yellowish and reddish. Clypeus sometimes with yellowish to brownish translucent colour. Face predominately shiny and with loose, long, yellowish, erect hairs. Mandibles bidentate. Malar area very short, linear. Clypeus about two times as wide as long; densely and deeply punctate (i <1,0d); punctures large (drop shaped) and conspicuously bigger than those of supraclypeal area. Clypeoantennal distance 0,3mm. Supraclypeal area convex in profile; about two–third wider than long; densely punctate (i = d). Antennal flagellomeres brownish beneath and obscurely brown above. Mesosoma. L = 0,9mm; W (ITS) = 1,0mm. Integument black. Scutum moderately shiny and with a distinct median groove; disc densely punctate (i = d); finely sculptured ( Fig. 117b View FIGURE 117 ). Scutellum as illustrated in Fig. 117b View FIGURE 117 . Scutum, scutellum, metanotum and mesepisternum with yellowish, erect hairs (same colour as head). Propodeum except basal area and propodeal triangle with whitish, apressed, short hairs mixed with yellowish, long, erect hairs. Basal area of propodeum as illustrated in Fig. 117c View FIGURE 117 . Marginal region of posterior truncation shiny, smoothly sculptured. Wings. Hyaline. Legs. Integument mostly brownish. Vestiture greyish to yellowish. Ts coarsely serrate, with only a few (about four) strong projections ( Fig. 117f View FIGURE 117 ); Bp small and angulated apically ( Fig. 117g View FIGURE 117 ). Metasoma. L = 2,6mm; W = 1,4mm. Integument brownish to reddish; T1 with a dark patch at each side; margins of T and S pallid to translucent. T without apical hair bands, but discs of T4 and T5 with a few greyish, appressed hairs. Prepygidial fimbria yellowish. Discs and marginal zones of T1–T3 as illustrated in Fig. 117d View FIGURE 117 .
