31, 32; Liu & Zhong, 1994: 560.
Material examined. – 1 male (cl 16.2 mm), 3 females (cl 12.4- 15.1 mm) ( IOCAS), CN 7-10 , 19º00’N, 112º30’E, 472 m, AT, coll. Z. Tang, 17 Feb.1959 GoogleMaps .
Distribution. – Eastern Africa off Zanzibar, Indonesia, South China Sea, Philippines, Japan, at depths of 238- 472 m.
Remarks. – This is one of the largest species of Plesionika , attaining 38 mm in the postorbital carapace length ( Toriyama et al., 1990). The present specimens appear immature with the carapace lengths ranging from 12.4 to 16.2 mm. They are referred to P. indica on account of the following features: rostrum 1.8 times as long as carapace, far overreaching antennal scale, with more than 20 dorsal and more than 17 ventral teeth, 3 or 4 posteriormost dorsal teeth arising from carapace posterior to level of orbital margin; fourth abdominal somite with a small posteroventral tooth on pleuron; third maxilliped with penultimate segment about 1.6 times as long as terminal segment; and the presence of four anterior pairs of pereopods with hooked epipods ( De Man, 1920; Chace, 1985).
