Remarks: NMS Registration No. 1961.12 was a small collection of butterfly types from Nyasaland donated by

Dr.D.R.Gifford. This donation included a neallotype female of Alaena nyassa Hewitson – such a designation does not appear to have been published (see Gifford, 1965), nor is there an appropriately labelled specimen.
