Type Locality: Madagascar, Mahajanga Prov., Ankarafantsika Reserve, near Ampijoroa.

Vernacular Names: Greater Big-footed Mouse.

Distribution: Known only from the type locality and its vicinity, NW Madagascar.

Conservation: IUCN – Critically Endangered.

Discussion: Occurs sympatrically with M. bastardi .
