Type species. Myonyssus decumani Tiraboschi, 1904 .
Remarks. The genus is distributed in Europe, Northern and Central Asia, North America and Australasia ( Strandtmann & Garrett, 1970; Mašán & Fenďa, 2010). Strandtmann & Garrett (1970) included seven species within the genus Myonyssus , and considered these mites rare, “encountered occasionally in the fur of rodents and pikas.”.
