Galeichthys gronovii   ZBK Valenciennes in Cuvier & Valenciennes, 1840b: 40. Type locality: Terre-Ferme ou de la Guyana, Maracaibo; Mana, R. Cayenne; Bahia . Syntypes: MNHN A-8977 , Guyana; MNHN A-9368 , Maracaibo .

Mystus carolinensis   ZBK Gronow in Gray, 1854: 156. Type locality: Tropical America . No types known.

Distribution: North and eastern South America.

Countries: Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Surinam, French Guyana and Brazil.

Habitat: Predominantly marine waters, but also in brackish waters.

Maximum size: 550 mm TL.
